The M family

This family is a special one. When I moved to Elko last year them mom and I hit it off pretty quickly. We soon became walking buddies and ever since we have spent lots of time together. Our boys are close in age so it is always fun to swap stories and plan fun activities with them. We decided to head up to the beautiful canyon that is about 30 minutes from our homes. It was a lovely setting but man was it cold. We got out of the car and we realized that we would need to move fast. Thankfully they were troopers and I am thrilled with the results. M family you are the best. Thanks for being such wonderful friends.

Happy Weekend

I though I would leave you this week with a couple of full posts. This family was wonderful to work with. This session lasted all of 25 minutes. These pictures are deceiving. It was freezing and they needed to get to the kids soccer game. There is a little pink to them because it was seriously 36 degrees outside. Thankfully they are a darling family and they managed to look super cute even though it was so cold. Plus they made it to the soccer game on time.

Tonight I am headed to Utah. It is going to be a crazy trip. I have 8 sessions in the next 2 days. I am excited to show them to you. Keep your eye out.

Long time no post. Sorry for the delay. I have had a wonderful reason though. This cute little guy is mine. He was born last month and I have spent every last moment with him. It has been wonderful but the time has come to get back to work. You my have noticed a cooler breeze and shorter days. This the the sign that the time has come for fall mini sessions!

Mini Sessions will cost 125.00. You will receive 10-15 images on CD and 25 Christmas cards.

Salt Lake City mini sessions will only happen once this season. They will be Saturday October 29 in the morning. I have already had a lot of interest in these sessions so they will go fast.

Elko mini sessions will be have 3 dates the first of which is Saturday October 22. I will be posting the other dates later this week.

Courtney sent me this session a few days back. When she called me she told me that she had been so worried about this session. It was forecast to rain all day and she had been so worried. Thankfully it turned out to be a lovely evening with a cute couple. The best part was when the sun poked through the clouds at sunset. My favorite images are towards the end of the post. I decided to make them a little bigger so you could get a better look.

I love this family. I was so thankful when they asked me to take their pictures. Heather the mom is the sister of Matt who I photographed earlier this year. It was so fun to see them again and I hope to see them in the future. These little boys are the cutest and sweetest kids. I love the little ones tongue. It reminds me of my little guy who went through a whole period where I couldn't take a picture without his tongue sticking out. They get big so fast.

I would like to introduce you to my sister Courtney Ball. Over the past few months she has been working with me and learning the ropes of Kristy C Photo. We have decided that we want to work together. Over the next few months you are going to see work from her. She has a lot of talent and I am so excited to call her my partner and my sister. That means some big changes will be coming (i.e. new name, website, blog :)) so keep watching. She will be based out of Provo and work with most of our Utah clients.

Hi...My name is Courtney I am Kristy's sister. I have always loved Photography and I'm so excited to work with my sister. Kristy and I love working together and we have some great ideas that we are working on. I'm excited to meet new people and show people what I love to do.

I just found out that my business email was hacked several weeks back. I first want to apologize to anyone who may have received junk emails from me. Unfortunately with junk emails it prevented me from seeing new emails from my website. Having fixed the problems I can now see that I missed several emails from people. I am so sorry if you have been trying to reach me. I am so sorry that I didn't notice this before.

What have I learned from this? If things seem eerily slow I should make sure I am not to problem.

This lovely couple got married this last weekend. This is their groomal session from October. It was such an amazing session. We were watching a huge storm move towards us across the valley. We had a little less than an hour before all heck broke loose. Thankfully they are a super attractive couple so I didn't have any trouble getting beautiful shots. They got married at the Bountiful temple so we decided to do some of this session while the fall colors were still strong. Within an hour of these being shot the storm blew away all of the bright colors you see. The temple this last Friday looks completely different but just as beautiful. Congrat's again Mr. & Mrs. Cannon!

I can't wait to show you their wedding. I moved this last week and I will have limited internet over the next week. I promise I will keep the sessions coming. It just might be a day or two.

Many of my clients already know this but I know there are calls that I have missed and I don't want anyone to think I am ignoring them. As I have said over the last 5 months I was pregnant. Unfortunately last week I lost my baby. I ended up in the hospital in Salt Lake for several days and I am stuck in Utah for at least another week until I get the O.K. to go home. I appreciate all of the notes and messages I have already received. I have written about this experience on a personal family blog. Usually I keep it private but you are welcome to take a look here.

I have had to reschedule all of my sessions over the last few weeks to the end of the month. Unfortunately that means all of my sessions in Utah are filled for 2010. It is a little late but I will still accept weddings for December of this year. If you want to book your wedding do it now. I already have several dates filled. Full Wedding day only coverage starts at 1000.00 call me for deals and details.

Fall mini sessions

To all of you blog stalkers out there I apologize for my lack of posting. It is for a good reason. Kristy C Photo is expanding. Meaning I Kristy C. am expanding. I am expecting my second. Pregnancy is not my favorite thing. Due to this I will not be taking on as much work this fall. So now is the time to book sessions and your weddings.

Now to the mini sessions. I will be doing mini sessions in Salt Lake City in September on the 27-29. I know that feels far away but really it is only a month. We are also starting towards the holiday season. If you want a session for your Christmas cards this will be the time to do it. I will be announcing one more session for Utah in October but I need to nail down those dates. October will be very limited (only 2 or 3 sesssion) so September is really the time. Additional cost will we added for groups over 6.Now onto the info.

As my clients know I have a difficult time figuring out what type of edit I want to do on am image. Usually people end up with a couple of edits on their CD. This wedding totally had the most romantic feel. I can't help but show you this wedding with my vintage edit. I think it captures the misty mountain romantic feel that was this wedding day. Matt and Sarah are such a lovely couple. You would never believe the weather for their June wedding. They were married at Stein Erickson Lodge in Deer Valley and it snowed the evening before the wedding. Sadly most of the celebration was supposed to be outdoors but thankfully the Lodge was a beautiful backdrop. Matt and Sarah were so happy that I don't think they even noticed. Enjoy :)

So you could say I go to a lot of weddings. Hands down this is the best cake I have EVER had. It was made by a friend of the family and I cannot tell you how good it was. They need to go into business and sell me some every day. AMAZING!

Moving Forward...

Well I have been talking about it for months. The time has finally come. As of June 2010 I will be moving from Utah. Elko Nevada will be my new home for the next several years. My dear husband is finally done with school and has accepted a job with Barrick Gold Company. I am excited and a little scared. What does this mean for Kristy C Photo? I will be moving my business to Elko. I will be happy to travel for wedding photography but it will be very limited and I will have to increase my prices to offset the cost of travel and childcare.

My focus will change a little in Elko. I will probably work with family photography more than weddings. It is a new adventure and I am excited for it. I have had a few requests for pictures before I leave. I am planning on Doing a day full of mini sessions during May. The date is not currently set but as of right now it is looking like May 10th. If you are interested please send me an email. I will have 8 slots available.

I spent a lovely morning with Brian and Lori the other day. We were very lucky to get the pictures done before the storm that came on earlier this week. I really enjoyed getting to know them while we were running around downtown. I am excited to do their wedding later on this spring. Congratulations you guys you make a great couple.

s some of you may know my husband is still in school. He will be graduating in just a couple of short months. I am super excited for him. Why am I telling you this? With graduation comes an impending move. Every job we are currently looking at is out of state. This means I will not be around SLC much longer. Don't worry too much. I will come around for some visits and scheduled events BUT I will not be booking senior, children, or family pictures past the 2nd week of May.

I am planning several mini sessions during the next 2 months. If you want pictures now is time to get them. With spring coming it is a wonderful time of year for pictures. If you want to schedule family pictures with me it will have to be during one of these mini sessions. I have several weddings coming up and I need to plan for engagements and bridals.

9 hours Wedding Day

I thought I would post a before and after. When people book me they aren't just booking me for the few hours I spend with them. Most of my time is spent in front of the computer. One of the things that I love about photography is the creative process that occurs after my sessions with you. I have worked hard to make sure that I capture an image that is lit properly and composed beautifully but photo editing give me that extra buzz. In college I spend most of my time in drawing and painting classes. That is something that comes across in my editing. I love to add that little extra that makes the image come off the page. Sometimes I keep it subtle sometimes I get a little crazy. This is the typical edit I do for most of my pictures.

I took these of Nate the other day. He has had a rough month. First the stomach flu then he came down with a sinus infection and an ear infection. He is finally coming around but we have had a few rough days. I gave him a chocolate covered graham cracker and I have never seen him so dirty. These don't show how bad it was :)

I am sorry that you haven't heard from me. I have been under the weather. I got sick on New Years Eve and it lead up to an Insta Care visit yesterday. Hopefully I will be on the mend sooner rather than later. Stay tuned I have some fun weddings to show you.

Also I am planning some mini sessions for February. It will be $75.00 a session. You get 10 images on CD with a copyright. If you are are interested let me know. Dates will be announced soon. Most likely one of the last 2 Fridays in February.
